In 1860 Edouard Heuer founded his first watch store in the small village of St. Imier in Switzerland under the name Uhrenmanufaktur Heuer AG. In 1885 the company was bought by Vanguard Techniques and became TAG Heuer. According to the company slogan, “Swiss Avant-Garde since 1860″, TAG Heuer collections are the Formula 1, Carrera, Grand Carrera and Monaco. But not only. Since the 1910s, Heuer has already begun working with any company car and airoplanes, the timer for dashboards for cars and planes being created by TAG Heuer. But not only cars and airoplanes have the advantage of working with TAG Heuer. In 1962 a “Tag Heuer” became the first Swiss watch worn into space by John Glenn who piloted “Mercury Atlas 6″. This historic part can be found today at the Air Museum and the San Diego Area.
Now TAG Heuer is concerned with the marketing of items of fashion, eyewear, electronics and many others, which are not manufactured by Tag Heuer but carry its logo. However, the name TAG Heur is related especially to its precise and precious watches that are produced from scratch.
Breitling – luxury and Swiss precision
In 2014 Breitling celebrated 130 years of prodigious activity in the meticulous and the wonderful world of watchmaking. Leon Breitling was the one who established in 1884 the private company Breitling SA in Grenchen, Canton of Solothurn, Switzerland. The company was renamed “Leon G. Breitling SA Montbrillant Watch Manufactory”. Breitling has created designs for three categories of activities: SuperOcean – perfect waterproof watches for diving, Navitimer – complicated mechanisms for aviation and Breitling for Bentley – luxury watches for special events. There is still a model called Breitling Emergency, created for aviation and also for the army, which contains a radio transmitter having a frequency used in military aviation in a special frequency.
